Updated Dining Room

It had been decades since our bachelor last updated his dining room, and it was in need of a complete transformation.

Location: Morris Plains

Designer Credits: Kathleen Monteleone

Project Overview:

The client envisioned a dining space that was both casual and sophisticated, perfect for entertaining family and friends. At the heart of the room is a refined dining table in a warm brown finish, showcasing a beautifully textured wood grain top. Metal ferrules in a forged pewter finish accent the base of each leg, adding a touch of craftsmanship and elegance.

A modern twist is introduced with the buffet, featuring a decorative carved pattern on its door fronts that echoes the texture of the table. To create balance and symmetry, we selected streamlined dual cabinets in a rich ebony finish, complemented by sleek iron pulls. Oversized mirrors with a striking 3-dimensional design reflect the dining table and the abstract artwork above the buffet, enhancing the room’s depth and visual interest.

For the windows, we opted for woven shades in a soft, light-filtering palette, perfectly paired with crisp white linen drapery panels to create a subtle yet sophisticated textural contrast. The space is anchored by a large Neo-Classical chandelier in a playful caged design, finished in black and gold, adding just the right amount of whimsy to complete the room.

Our client is thrilled with the transformation and can’t wait to host their first dinner party in this inviting and elegant dining room!
